Layden left Jazz in 1999 to lead Knicks

SALT LAKE CITY -- Scott Layden may be returning to Utah, a Salt Lake City newspaper said.

Layden has been out of the NBA since being fired as president of the Knicks 18 months ago.

The Salt Lake Tribune, without citing its sources, said Wednesday that it has learned that Layden is the leading candidate for an assistant coaching job with the Jazz.
