Suns broadcaster McCoy, sportswriter Moran named Gowdy Award winners

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Al McCoy, the longtime Phoenix Suns broadcaster, and Malcolm Moran, who spent three decades covering college sports for four newspapers, will receive the 2007 Curt Gowdy Media Awards from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The presentation will made during enshrinement festivities Sept. 6-8, the Hall of Fame announced Friday.

McCoy has been the play-by-play voice of the Suns since 1972. His trademark calls include "Shazam," "zing go the strings" ...
