CARACAS, Venezuela -- There are very few people who saw Oscar Schmidt play who don't remember his stellar performances, such as that unforgettable 1987 Pan American Games final in which the Brazilian national team took apart Team USA with Schmidt's 46 points, or when he snatched a victory from Puerto Rico in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games with three key free throws and a made basket in the closing moments.
