Lowry won't sign with agent as he tests waters

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova point guard Kyle Lowry will make himself eligible for the NBA draft, but will retain the option of returning to school by not hiring an agent.

Lowry, a sophomore, had until Saturday to declare for the June
28 draft. The deadline to withdraw is June 18.

"It was a very difficult situation," Lowry said Thursday. "I
thought long and hard about it, and I felt really good with the
decision I just made."

The speedy 6-foot guard was third on the Wildcats in scoring (11
points per game) and rebounding (4.3) this season, and first in
assists (3.7). His 2.3 steals per game led the Big East.
