Coleman has been taking medication for an irregular heartbeat. He might play his first game on Nov. 8 at Orlando.
The Hornets opened the season Tuesday night with a victory at Atlanta.
Coleman, 33, averaged 16.7 points and 8.5 rebounds in 74
games for the Hornets last season. It marked the first time in
his injury-plagued 10-year career that Coleman played more than
60 games since 1993-94.
Coleman signed a five-year, $40 million deal with the
Hornets before the lockout-abbreviated 1999 season. He
averaged 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds in 37 games with the
Hornets that season.
The 6-foot-10 Coleman has averaged 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds over his career.
The New Jersey Nets made him the top overall choice in the 1990 NBA draft out of Syracuse. A 1994 All-Star, Coleman helped New Jersey to the playoffs three
times.
He was acquired by Philadelphia in a six-player deal Nov. 30, 1995, before signing as a free agent with Charlotte.
