Howard out 4 weeks with sprained MCL

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets forward Juwan Howard, who
earlier this week was diagnosed with a second-degree sprained
MCL in his right knee, was placed on the injured list Saturday.

The 6-foot-9 Howard suffered the injury in Monday's victory at Golden
State and is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Without Howard, the Rockets lost to the Boston Celtics, 103-92,
on Friday, ending their six-game winning streak.

Howard is averaging 9.6 points and 5.7 rebounds in 61 games this
season, his 11th in the NBA and first with the Rockets. He was
acquired from Orlando in the offseason in the deal that also
landed Tracy McGrady.

In 791 games with Washington, Dallas, Denver, Orlando and
Houston, Howard has averaged 17.2 points and 7.3 rebounds. He
was an All-Star in 1996.

In another move Saturday, the Rockets waived guard Andre Barrett, who averaged 2.1 points and 1.6 assists in 27 games
this season.
