Maggette sits out Clippers' opener

Los Angeles Clippers: Corey Maggette was still bothered by a left hamstring injury and did not play in the Los Angeles Clippers opener against Seattle on Wednesday night.

Maggette hasn't played since Oct. 18 against Portland, when he scored 15 points. Coach Mike Dunleavy said the team will be very cautious with the injury, and there is no timetable for Maggette's return.

"To me, it's something that I want to be very conservative with
it," Dunleavy said. "It's a muscle that could be a recurring
injury and I'd like to try and get it over with in one fell

Last season, Maggette averaged 23 points against Seattle. Second-year guard Quinton Ross took Maggette's spot in the starting lineup.

McCarty's been bothered by a lacerated right thumb.

Meanwhile the status of guard Shaun Livingston remains unknown. Livingston has been bothered by a sore lower back since the start
of training camp, and was scheduled to undergo further tests on
Wednesday with a back specialist, but Dunleavy did not have an
update on what the tests revealed.

Phoenix Suns: The Suns signed rookie forward Sharrod Ford on Wednesday and waived Brazilian rookie Lucas Tischer.

The 6-foot-9 Ford, who was not drafted out of Clemson, played eight games for the San Antonio Spurs in the preseason, averaging 2.5 points and 1.1 blocks in 12.5 minutes. He was released by the NBA champions on Oct. 26.

Tischer, signed on Sept. 12, averaged 1.3 points in three preseason games with the Suns.
