Cavaliers' Jones leaves game early

Cleveland Cavaliers: Cavaliers point guard Damon Jones sprained his
left ankle in Tuesday night's win over the Boston Celtics when he
banged into guard Ricky Davis in the second quarter.

Jones was moving to his left while playing defense against Davis
and rolled his ankle when the two got their legs locked up. Jones
went down and had to be helped off the floor and to the Cavs'
locker room.

X-rays were negative and Jones said he's questionable for
Thursday's game at Indiana.

"I'm not going to rush it," said Jones, who didn't score in
seven minutes before getting hurt.

Jones, who signed with Cleveland as a free agent during the
offseason, is averaging 9.6 points and 2.7 assists.

Seattle Sonics: Forward Danny Fortson injured
his right big toe in the first half against
Utah. The team said he would not return.

Fortson missed time during the preseason with a toe injury, but
the Sonics did not say if this was an aggravation of the previous
injury. Fortson was averaging 2.4 points in 11 minutes per game.

Fortson was scoreless Tuesday. He committed three fouls, turned
the ball over three times, and was called for a lane violation that
erased a made free throw in just under five minutes.

Memphis Grizzlies: The Grizzlies waived center John Thomas on Tuesday, cutting their roster to 14 players.

Thomas signed with Memphis on Oct. 3 and averaged 1.3 points and 0.3 assists in three games. The 6-9, 265-pounder played with Minnesota last season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds.
