Carmelo Anthony rests knee vs. Celtics

BOSTON -- Star forward Carmelo Anthony was scratched from the Denver Nuggets' game at Boston with inflammation in his right knee.

It's the first game that Anthony has missed this season.

Denver had won seven in a row before losing to Charlotte on Tuesday night. Nuggets coach George Karl failed to earn his 1,000th win in the NBA for the second time with the Nuggets' 105-89 loss to Boston.

Anthony is averaging 22.8 points and nearly eight rebounds per game.

Rookie Gary Forbes started in his place Wednesday night, posting five points and zero rebounds in 19 minutes.
