Troublesome ankle ends Hudson's season

MINNEAPOLIS -- Timberwolves backup point guard Troy Hudson
will have surgery on his chronically sprained right ankle and miss
the playoffs, coach Flip Saunders said Thursday.

Hudson was examined Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C., by orthopedic
specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, who found calcium and scar tissue.

Hudson was nagged by the injury for most of the season and
appeared in only 29 games.

The Wolves, who clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western
Conference by beating Memphis on Wednesday night, open their
first-round playoff series against Denver on Sunday.
