What do you get when you add up a flurry of 40-point games, 12 straight wins, one huge W in Oklahoma City and some worrisome health news in Denver and San Antonio?

You get a promotion to No. 3 in ESPN.com's weekly NBA Power Rankings ... if you're the New York Knicks.

In the process of snatching the NBA scoring lead from OKC's Kevin Durant by the slimmest of margins, Carmelo Anthony on Sunday helped the Knicks extend their win streak to 12 games with a big victory on the Thunder's floor that also helped vault the Knicks back to the top of the rankings for the first time since Dec. 17 when they were 18-5.

The Nuggets (No. 2 to No. 4) and Spurs (No. 3 to No. 5), meanwhile, have taken a tumble, more so because of the injuries suffered by Danilo Gallinari and Tony Parker, respectively, than any wins or losses.

The other big development in the top 10 is Utah's unexpected return to the upper third of the rankings, fueled by its surprising win Sunday night at Golden State that has put the Lakers' playoff hopes in unfathomably legitimate jeopardy.

The rankings, as always, were compiled by Gary Payton-esque lobbing and assisting from ESPN Stats & Information and the Elias Sports Bureau. Click here to rank the teams yourself ... and click here in case you missed our latest Weekend Dime.
