MIAMI -- Chris Bosh scored 21 points on 7-for-8 shooting, LeBron James scored nine and the two-time defending champion Miami Heat opened the preseason with a 92-87 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.
Roger Mason Jr. scored 14 points and Rashard Lewis added 11 for the Heat, who had what once was 22-point lead trimmed to two in the final seconds but never trailed.
Atlanta lost forward Gustavo Ayon late in the first quarter with a right shoulder injury. The Hawks said he would be evaluated again Tuesday.
Bosh had 19 points in 14 first-half minutes, helping Miami to a 49-30 lead at the break.
