Finley scores 10,000th point in Mavs' win

DALLAS (AP) -- After games against the Los Angeles Lakers and San
Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Mavericks feared a letdown against the
Memphis Grizzlies.

It didn't happen.

The Mavericks took care of the Grizzlies, the Western
Conference's last-place team, with a 111-100 victory Saturday

"They are a team that's really not going anywhere," Mavericks
reserve guard Avery Johnson said. "It's tough, especially coming
off a tough loss to the Spurs. So I commend our guys. We got it
over after three quarters."

Dirk Nowitzki scored 24 points, and Michael Finley added 13 to
surpass 10,000 for his career as the Mavericks completed a
four-game season series sweep of the Grizzlies.

Finley became the 238th NBA player to reach 10,000 points with
an 18-foot jumper in the final minute of the first quarter. The
sellout crowd gave Finley a standing ovation after the milestone
was announced.

"I'm thankful that I did it at home," Finley said. "The
Dallas fans have been real good for me, so to share it with them
was special."

Wang Zhizhi had a career-high 18 points, and Steve Nash scored
13 points for the Mavericks, who've won eight of 11 overall and 10
of 11 meetings against the Grizzlies.

Wang hit all four 3-point attempts and went 7-for-9 from the
field in his best game since arriving from China last season.

"When he gets hot, that's when he's most effective for us,"
Nash said. "He made some shots, and that was good to see."

Mavericks coach Don Nelson was able to rest his starters in the
second half. All 11 Dallas players who got into the game scored,
with the reserves contributing 47 points.

"A lot of guys who normally don't get much playing time got a
chance to get some minutes tonight," said Johnson, the team's No.
3 point guard who played 21 minutes. "It was good to get the
starters some rest."

Pau Gasol's 23 points and Stromile Swift's 20 paced the
Grizzlies, who've lost six straight and are 2-15 in their last 17

"(The Mavericks) are good. They're a tough team to match up
with," Grizzlies coach Sidney Lowe said. "They have so many
weapons, people who can shoot the ball."

The Mavericks took control in the first quarter and led 63-47 at
halftime. In the first half, Nowitzki had 19 points and went
8-for-9 from the field.

Dallas carried a 94-75 lead into the final quarter and led by as
many as 23 in the fourth quarter as Nelson cleared his bench.
