Six Minnesota players score in double figures

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Kevin Garnett scored 26 points to lead
the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 99-96 victory over the Atlanta
Hawks in an exhibition game Thursday night.

Latrell Sprewell, who played at Alabama, scored 10 points for
Minnesota but was sidelined for the second half with a tender
ankle.

Antoine Walker had 22 points and Jon Barry added 16 for the
Hawks, who trailed by as many as 14 points in the third quarter
before cutting the deficit to one late in the fourth quarter.

Walker missed an off-balance 3-point try as time ran out in
regulation.

Garnett had 10 points and Sprewell added eight as Minnesota
(1-1) took a 32-18 lead after one quarter. Chris Crawford scored
nine points in the second quarter as Atlanta (1-1) got within 47-40
at halftime.

Garnett scored all the points in a 10-0 run that gave the
Timberwolves a 64-50 lead midway through the third quarter.

With 3:16 left in the third, Garnett fouled Crawford as he tried
to convert a steal into a transition basket. Crawford injured his
right knee and was helped off the floor. He is scheduled to have an
MRI on Friday in Atlanta.
