SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Manu Ginobili scored 12 of his 16 points in
the second half and Brent Barry added four 3-pointers to lead the
San Antonio Spurs to a 91-82 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on
The Clippers got to within 49-45 on a three-point play by Chris
Wilcox midway through the third, but San Antonio made 10 of its
final 11 shots, including four 3-pointers, in the quarter to extend
its lead to 72-57 heading into the fourth.
The Spurs pushed their lead to 22 points early in the fourth
before the teams went to their reserves.
Corey Maggette led the Clippers with 23 points on 6-for-16
shooting, with only two of his baskets coming in the second half.
Elton Brand scored 13 and Wilcox 10 for Los Angeles, which shot 39
percent and committed 22 turnovers. The Spurs had 10 steals, four
by Robert Horry.
Parker made his first three shots to account for seven of San
Antonio's first 10 points, while Los Angeles missed eight of its
first nine attempts.
A pair of free throws by Maggette and a layup by Rick Brunson
late in the first gave the Clippers a 16-13 lead, but the Spurs
followed with a 23-9 run, capped by a fast-break layup by Barry's
second 3-pointer of the game.
Maggette scored 15 of the Clippers' 33 first-half points. The
Clippers had only 10 baskets but 15 turnovers in the first two
periods. Brand missed all seven of his shots in the half, which
ended with San Antonio up by nine.
Glenn Robinson, signed as free agent Monday, made three of
his four shots and finished with seven points in 13 minutes in his
San Antonio debut. ... Marks is the second Spurs player to reach
double digits in rebounds since Duncan got hurt. Rasho Nesterovic
had 11 in a March 21 loss to New York. ... Marko Jaric of Los
Angeles left the game in the third with a sore right foot. ...
Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy was ejected with 38 seconds left in
the game when he picked up his second technical foul. ... San
Antonio and the Clippers play again Saturday night in Los Angeles.
