NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Brian Roberts scored 16 points and Lance Thomas and Ryan Anderson both added 14 to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 90-87 preseason victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Thursday night.
Anthony Davis, the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft by the Hornets, had 12 points, nine rebounds and one block in almost 30 minutes of action. He did not play in the final quarter.
The Hornets led by 16 points after the first quarter but the Bobcats rallied and held a 10-point lead midway through the final quarter. But the Hornets used a 22-9 run over the final 8 minutes to secure the victory.
Trailing 88-87, Charlotte center Brendan Haywood had a chance to give the Bobcats the lead, but missed two free throws with 6.9 seconds left.
Mazda top play goes to Celtics Jae Crowder for slamming down a one-handed dunk while being defended by four Hawks in the box.
The Los Angeles Rams kicked off the 2016 draft by picking Cal Bears' QB, Jared Goff, while the possible best prospect slips to the number 13 spot.
