The Rockets presented a qualifying offer to restricted free agent forward Donatas Motiejunas on Thursday. Motiejunas appears to be in the Rockets long-term plans and he met with newly hired coach Mike D'Antoni this week. Motiejunas told ESPN he wants to remain with the Rockets beyond his one-year qualifying offer of $3.4 million. Motiejunas missed the first 20 games of this past season recovering from back surgery. Motiejunas did average 6.2 points during the season when he returned. Houston traded Motiejunas to the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline but it was recinded when he failed his physical. The Rockets didn't extend a $3.5 million qualifying offer to forward Terrence Jones, battled health issues the majority of the season. In 50 games, Jones averaged 8.7 points and three rebounds per game. Jones didn't play the last 21 regular season games and missed the entire postseason. Jones said he spoke with then-coach J.B. Bickerstaff about his playing status but he remained on the bench.
