Kidd-Gilchrist dislocates shoulder

Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a dislocated right shoulder in the team's preseason game against the magic Saturday. X-rays were negative, but he has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Heat.

Kobe Bryant: 'I'm definitely playing'

Lakers coach Byron Scott said earlier this week that he wasn't sure if Kobe Bryant would play in the team's preseason opener, but the superstar has other ideas. "I feel great," Bryant said. "It's just getting the sea legs under me. Getting up and down. ... I'm feeling in great shape. I feel strong, feel healthy."

Lakers' last scheduled two-a-day of practice during training camp. Marcelo Huertas (hamstring) and Larry Nance Jr (back spasms) sidelined today and Nance is questionable for Sunday's game vs. Utah, the Lakers say. Kobe Bryant and Metta World Peace are practicing today.

Davis dealing with ankle issue

Anthony Davis has a sprained left ankle, but is listed as probable for the Pelicans' preseason opener tonight against the Pacers. Davis has missed 47 games in his 3 seasons in the NBA.

Rose expected to rejoin Bulls Wednesday

The PG is recovering from a fractured left orbital, and coach Fred Hoiberg said after practice today: "[The doctors have] advised him to continue to let that sight heal and they think the best way to do that is for him to stay at home at this time. We plan on him being back Wednesday morning."

After a child shooting in Cleveland yesterday, James said today at Cavaliers practice there is "no room for guns." "Obviously you're not going to be able to take every gun out. ... But if there's some stipulations behind it or some penalties, some big time penalties or rules or regulations about carrying firearms, legal or illegal, people will second-guess themselves." Story
