Hawks dispensing with Lopez & Co.

Brook Lopez outlasted early foul trouble to tally 9 points and 9 rebounds, but the Nets gave up 17 points off of 11 turnovers to Atlanta to fall behind by 10 at the break. Both teams have struggled from deep and are a combined 7-for-24 on 3-pointers. Follow live

No Afflalo for Blazers in Game 1

Portland coach Terry Stotts has officially ruled Arron Afflalo out for the Blazers postseason opener against the Grizzlies tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET. Afflalo strained his right shoulder on April 9 against the Warriors and has not played since.

Ball movement leads the way for Hawks

Kyle Korver's hitting teammates with jump passes, and when the Nets do slow the Hawks, Atlanta's finding the open shooter. Nine Hawks shots have come after 4 passes, and 5 of those have been three-pointers. Follow live

Two's company for Cavs stars

The list of Cavaliers who scored 30 points in a playoff debut isn't very long, but it does have the upside of being rather current. As for Kevin Love -- he finished with 19 points on 5-for-14 shooting in the first playoff game of his 7-year career.

Kevin Arnovitz @kevinarnovitz

I know the Nets move slow and the ball is like an anvil in the Nets' half court, but Hawks defense has been like a vise.

Brooklyn Nets @BrooklynNets

Alan Anderson checks in for the 1st time since 4/3 vs. TOR (missed last 7 regular season games, including last 2 games vs. ATL) #Nets

Hawks not giving Nets a pass

Atlanta has an 11-0 advantage on points off of turnovers to negate the fact that Brook Lopez has as nearly many rebounds (7) as the Hawks as a team (9). It also doesn't help the Nets that they have 0 assists as the Hawks lead by double digits heading to the 2nd quarter. Follow live

Mike Mazzeo @MazzESPN

So far. Not so good. #Nets trail 32-20. 0-for-6 from 3-point range and six turnovers. Seven offensive boards or it could be worse.

Kyrie: Debut ‘exceeded expectations’
NBA

Kyrie Irving says he tried to come out aggressive in his playoff debut: "Whatever my team needed me to do -- especially on the defensive end -- I was willing to do. Offensively it was going to take care of itself, but I just wanted to throw myself into the game and live with the results."

Kevin Arnovitz @kevinarnovitz

Not getting Hawks fans booing Joe Johnson. The guy grinded in ATL for 7 years. Brought the franchise back to respectability.

Kevin Arnovitz @kevinarnovitz

ATL: 22nd this season in def. rebounding rate. 5 of BKN's 9 points have come on 2nd chances. Only thing that will stop ATL from steamrolling

Balanced beginning for Hawks

All 5 Atlanta starters have scored, and the Hawks' crowd is letting former Hawk Joe Johnson have it every time he touches the ball for the Nets. Atlanta has six points off three Brooklyn turnovers and a six-point lead in the first. Follow live

Teague getting easy penetration into the paint. Thank goodness for those putbacks the #Nets have had off offensive boards. 15-9 ATL.

Mike Mazzeo @MazzESPN

Joe Johnson gets booed. Joe hits a floater. The Atlanta faithful quickly silenced at Philips Arena. Then Korver from 3. Bang. #Nets

David Lee out for Game 2
NBA

The Warriors will be missing a key piece off their bench as Lee (lower back strain) won't play Monday against the Pelicans. Lee, who averaged 7.9 ppg this season, missed Golden State's Game 1 win.
