Kevin Pelton @kpelton

I'm not seeing who's going to make Reggie Jackson an offer. Teams with max-type room (LAL, ORL, PHI, POR, maybe UTA) unlikely to sign him.

High hopes in Dallas for DeAndre

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told radio station 1310 The Ticket in Dallas he sees DeAndre Jordan as a franchise player. "We see him as 'Shaq-like' but never having been given the opportunity. We told him if he came to the Mavs, he would be a focal point. He would grow into being a franchise player."

Rookies star in first Summer League game

The first final in Orlando Summer League saw the Heat beat the Pacers 92-76. Rookie Myles Turner (Indiana) led all scorers with 20 points and had 8 rebounds. Justise Winslow led Miami with 15 points on just 8 shots.

Michael Wallace @WallaceNBA_ESPN

One of things most impressive about Justise Winslow is he's so methodical. Sets his own pace and never seems overwhelmed or uncomfortable.

Tim MacMahon @espn_macmahon

Mark Cuban jokes he wants Chandler Parsons to run sales for all his companies after NBA career. CP seriously wants to run a front office.

CP3 little help in keeping Jordan

Kevin Arnovitz writes of the Clippers' attempts to re-sign DeAndre Jordan: "The Clippers' meeting didn't include a single player. [Blake] Griffin, of course, was in constant touch with his confidant, but [Chris] Paul was off in the Bahamas with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Paul made only half-hearted attempts to reach out to Jordan late in the process." Bigger role in Dallas

Tim MacMahon @espn_macmahon

Last 2 days likely kept Rick Carlisle from leaving Dallas next year. He's not rebuilding coach, and if Mavs missed on DJ, it was tank time.

NBA summer league action begins today

The Orlando league isn’t the big summer league, that’s Las Vegas, next week, but some lottery picks are expected to play: Mario Hezonja (Magic), Stanley Johnson (Pistons), Frank Kaminsky (Hornets), Justise Winslow (Heat) and Myles Turner (Pacers). Rosters

5 to watch at Orlando Summer League

Summer League has tipped off. The versatile Justise Winslow expects to get plenty of minutes this summer as he prepares to provide depth behind Dwyane Wade in Miami. The others

Steph gets Phunkee from half court

Stephen Curry is already an MVP and a champion. Letting him ride around the court on a hands-free scooter and drain wide-open half-court shots just seems unfair.

Phoenix aiming to impress Aldridge

A multi-story banner will be unveiled in downtown Phoenix today with a huge image of LaMarcus Aldridge. Cardinals players Larry Fitzgerald, Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu each tweeted at the free agent asking him to bring his talents to Arizona.

Dallas dominates day 3 of free agency

Kevin Pelton says now that Dallas has secured DeAndre Jordan from L.A., it has to go about filling out its thin bench. It started out by locking up Richard Jefferson. Day 3 recap (Insider)

Popovich's pitch to Aldridge effective

Sources told ESPN's Marc Stein that Gregg Popovich's pitch LaMarcus Aldridge Friday in Los Angeles -- both about playing with Tim Duncan and then taking over for him in the Spurs frontcourt -- resonated strongly. The free agent plans to take "a couple of days" to digest the pitches he's received from seven team meetings.

Ethan Strauss @SherwoodStrauss

This era's messing with how I value players. How valuable is CP3 if he drives dudes away? How valuable is Parsons if he's recruiting stars?

Becky Hammon making NBA history

She'll be the first female head coach in summer league history. How will players react to a female coach? Said Bruce Bowen: "Most of them have never played for one, so it's going to have to be a process." A plus for Hammon? She has the blessing of Gregg Popovich.

Rondo doesn't reduce Kings' mess

Amin Elhassan says Rajon Rondo destroyed his value during his stint in Dallas: "There was only one team that seemed to be interested in his services. It would be the team that is leading the league in dysfunction."

Second time an All-Star caliber center has left an LA team & taken less money to play in Texas. Both were recruited by Chandler Parsons.
