Hornets sit Eric Gordon; Paul Pierce out
Gordon bumped the knee in in the third quarter of Monday night's season-opening win at Phoenix.
Hornets coach Monty Williams said Gordon's injury is not serious, but resting him is the wiser move this early in the season, particularly in light of the compressed, post-lockout schedule.
"He went through shootaround and he was moving well," Williams said. "The (doctors), when they re-evaluated him after shootaround, they felt like this was a situation where you need to let this calm down before it turns into a two- to three-week thing. Right now it's day-to-day and we want to keep it that way as opposed to it being two to four weeks."
The Hornets play next at home against the Suns on Friday night. The Celtics also play next on Friday, hosting Detroit in their home opener.
