ESPN.com reported Wednesday that Webster had auditioned for the Wizards earlier in the week and had Washington on the short list of teams with whom he likely would sign.
Released by the Minnesota Timberwolves in July when they were clearing salary-cap space for the ill-fated potential signing of restricted free agent Nicolas Batum, Webster is said to be recovering well from back surgery that preceded his final season with the Wolves.
Terms of the deal were not immediately known.
