Rick Adelman will return for Wolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have confirmed Rick Adelman will coach the team this season after health issues for his wife earlier this year had raised questions about whether he would return.
Team owner Glen Taylor told the The Star Tribune of Minneapolis on Sunday that Adelman said he was coming back.
Mary Kay Adelman's health issues caused the coach to take a three-week, midseason leave from the team.
Adelman, 67, had said his wife was suffering from seizures, though doctors hadn't figured out what was causing them.
Adelman, who makes about $5 million annually on a contract that runs through the 2014-15 season, missed 11 games as his wife went through treatments and met with doctors.
Adelman's star point guard, Ricky Rubio, is happy to have his coach back.
"It's great news," Rubio said Wednesday from Slovenia, where his Spanish national team reached the EuroBasket semifinals. "He's great for us. He's doing a great job. He had a tough time last season but I'm just happy because I owe a lot to him. I love the way he wants us to play."
