Mag NBA preview: Pistons

PRESIDENT OF BASKETBALL operations Joe Dumars struck gold in the 2012 draft: Center Andre Drummond's 21.6 PER was the second highest ever for a player under 20. Although Drummond and Greg Monroe make the best Pistons frontcourt duo since the '80s, Dumars has struck out at small forward. Enter Josh Smith, who isn't even a true 3; his 16.1 PER there pales against his 18.5 as a PF, and he loves to shoot long 2s. Talent isn't the issue -- it's whether Dumars has found the right fit.
