Russell Westbrook ahead of schedule

Point guard Russell Westbrook could return to the Oklahoma City Thunder's lineup within two weeks, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.

Westbrook, who had a second surgery on his right knee in early October, has made significant progress in his recovery and could return well before the team's original four-to-six week estimate, according to the report.

Yahoo! Sports, citing league sources, reported that Westbrook has impressed players and team officials with his speed and explosiveness in practices.

Westbrook started all 82 games for the Thunder last season, averaging 23.2 points and 7.4 assists per game. He suffered a tear in his right meniscus in Game 2 of the Thunder's first-round series with the Houston Rockets.
