Damian Lillard in a landslide!
That's how our panel sees it, at least, with Lillard scoring almost twice as many points in our voting as his nearest competition, New Orleans Hornets forward Anthony Davis, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft and the preseason favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award.
While other rookies (most notably Davis and Detroit's Andre Drummond) have produced more efficiently than Lillard, Portland's point guard has been a revelation in his first NBA season, averaging 19.1 points and 6.5 assists while playing the most minutes of any rookie. Davis and Drummond, meanwhile, missed significant time due to injuries. Perhaps the only suspense remaining in this race is if Lillard wins the ROY award by a unanimous vote, which has happened only three times in NBA history.
