10-year veteran returns for third season

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Hornets signed reserve
forward George Lynch to a contract extension Monday.

Lynch, 10-year NBA veteran, averaged 4.5 points, 4.4 rebounds
and 18.5 minutes in 81 games with the Hornets last season.

The Hornets went 20-12 in the 32 games Lynch started last
season. In those games, the 6-foot-8, 235-pound Lynch averaged 7.1
points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Lynch was acquired from Philadelphia before the 2001-02 season
in a three-team deal that also involved Golden State.

Terms of the contract were not released, and neither Lynch nor
his agent, Steve Kaufman, could immediately be reached for comment.
