Boston offered huge deal for Winslow

The Celtics made a massive play to move up for Winslow on Thursday night, offering as many as six draft picks and four potential 1st-rounders for Charlotte's No. 9 pick, sources told ESPN's Chris Forsberg. They also made unsuccessful attempts to acquire picks Nos. 4-8. Winslow ended up going 10th to Miami.

Celtics find quality in quantity

Without a lottery pick, the Celtics were unlikely to come away with a star in Thursday's draft, but they did add a few nice pieces. Terry Rozier's toughness on defense and R.J. Hunter's touch as a shooter help Boston earn a solid B from Chad Ford. Ford's complete draft grades (Insider)

No. 28 pick: Celtics take R.J. Hunter

The Celtics, having utilized their two first-round picks on guards, are left with an overflowing depth chart. Hunter is going to have to shoot it well.

Hunter spaces the floor for Celtics

Jalen Rose on R.J. Hunter: "Reminds me a lot of Kevin Martin. ... Already, before he gets off the plane, R.J. Hunter is the best 3-point shooter on the Boston Celtics." Jay Williams adds: "His range is as soon as he walks into the building."

Celtics couldn't shoot 3s last season

The Celtics ranked 27th in 3-point percentage in 2014-15, so it makes sense that they drafted R.J. Hunter.

Insider profile: R.J. Hunter

Hunter has one of the best shots in the draft, even if he did only make 31 percent of his 3s this season (80 for 262). He possesses good floor vision and a knack for playing the passing lanes. Hunter averaged 19.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game last season. High bball IQ

The Celtics select R.J. Hunter (Georgia State) in the 2015 NBA Draft.

On the clock: Boston Celtics

This is the second of two first-round picks for the Boston Celtics. Boston acquired this pick from the Los Angeles Clippers as a condition to release Doc Rivers from his deal in 2013, who subsequently signed on to coach the Clippers.
