Spurs to bring aboard Ryan Arcidiacono

The Spurs, who had just one draft pick this year, have agreed to a two-year deal with Final Four standout Ryan Arcidiacono of Villanova.

Ford: San Antonio is a draft winner again

Dejounte Murray was ranked No. 9 on Chad Ford's final Big Board, but the Spurs somehow landed him at No. 29. Ford notes that Tony Parker was taken at No. 28 by the Spurs. Winners and losers (Insider)

LeBron James told Dejounte Murray that he was joining the best organization in the world. Spurs GM R.C. Buford got a kick out of that when he was told of that exchange. Buford thought LeBron had said that he was coming to the Spurs. Funny moment. You had to have been there.

So we're on the conference call with Dejounte Murray, and we could just hear LeBron James in the background giving him congrats.

Spurs grab another raw talent in Murray (1:20)

Dejounte Murray on the long wait before being selected No.29 by the Spurs: "I mean, like I said, yeah, I had to sit a long time, but I didn't pout. I didn't try to show nothing negative, tried to stay positive, and I feel like I'm going to the best organization in the NBA. Like you said, a team that contends for a championship every year. I'm just blessed to be in a position and blessed to be a part of their organization."

Shooting coach extraordinaire Chip Engelland is about to become Dejounte Murray's best friend. No better place to improve your shooting.

Spurs go with Dejounte Murray at No.29. Interesting pick here. Super young guy, combo guard who adds some athleticism. We all saw in the playoffs that the Spurs needed to improve overall athleticism. Perhaps Murray does that, but he needs to improve as a shooter.

What you need to know about Murray

Says NBA Insider Chad Ford: "He's a tough guard with elite size for the position who can get to the basket with a quick first step. He also sees the floor well." Stats, analysis, projections on Murray

Chad Ford ESPN Senior Writer

The San Antonio Spurs select Washington PG DeJounte Murray with the No. 29 pick. Steal of the draft. He was ranked No. 9 on my final Big Board bling, athletic and a great feel. If his shooting improves he could be the best PG in the draft. He could be an All-Star someday. Seriously. Typical Spurs. They got a lottery pick at 29.

The Mavs, looking to be competitive during veteran Dirk Nowitzki's twilight and beyond, are targeting center Hassan Whiteside and point guard Mike Conley in free agency, sources said.

San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard announced Thursday he has withdrawn his name from consideration for the 2016 USA Basketball Men's National Team. "This was a very difficult decision. It's an honor to have been considered for the team and I hope that in the future I will have the chance to represent my country by playing for USA Basketball."

Tyler Ulis to Spurs would be brilliant

Given the Spurs' need for a dynamic playmaking point guard, Ulis would be a steal at No. 29. The 20-year-old is falling due to concerns of a reported hip issue. Brilliant picks (Insider)
