Evan Turner is scheduled to be Boston's lone unrestricted free agent this summer. How does he feel about the process? "I'm kind of wondering how it's going to play out, but other than that, it should be cool," said Turner. "It's going to be way better than two years ago, right? ... Obviously money is cool, but I don't want to sit there getting our brains beat in, you know what I'm saying? I want to go somewhere ideally where the staff and their front office is big on winning. And that's pretty much it. Hopefully it's back here."

Amir Johnson, Boston's free-agent splurge last summer, was asked about his first season with the Celtics and the idea of the team as a free agent destination: "I had a good time. It was the funnest season I've definitely been in, just figuring out everything and putting everything together, not knowing how far or how good of a team you are. And we made it pretty dang far. Just the atmosphere, top-notch organization, guys fun to be around, coaching staff, it was just fun for me. I had a great year here."

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas already on the recruiting trail: "If you don't want to play for the Celtics then you don't know basketball," said Thomas. Asked if he's friendly with free agent-to-be Kevin Durant, Thomas, a Washington native, smiled and said: "I do (know him). He played for the Sonics, so I know him a little bit."

A motivated Isaiah Thomas: "I'm going to do whatever it takes to not have this feeling again because it really hurt me. I'm going to use that as motivation to continue to get better and work on my flaws and make those into my strengths. I promise you I'll be back better."

Isaiah Thomas will represent the Celtics on stage at May's draft lottery. Accepted Wyc Grousbeck's invite today.

Boston Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk said he never felt quite right after aggravating his shoulder injury in the playoffs. "I never really felt 100 percent the whole time," said Olynyk. "I never felt 80. It's tough to deal with and tough going down that stretch of games, you want to be at your best when your best was needed." Olynyk said he'll meet with team doctors to explore best way to get his shoulder healthy, but he has no current plans for surgery.

Isaiah Thomas: "I ride with these guys until the wheels fall off. This is a special group. Hopefully we can all stick together and have something special in the future. I love those guys in the locker room. Hopefully we can keep this together."

Big moves coming for Celtics this offseason?

Is it time for Boston to get a superstar? What should they do with their draft pick? Our NBA Insiders go 5-on-5 on the future of the Celtics.

Hawks use 2nd-half surge to close out Celtics

The Hawks scored 39 points in the third quarter to pull away from the Celtics and won Thursday night's Game 6 104-92 to advance to the second round, where they'll face the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dave Tuley ESPN Staff Writer

Hawks beat Celtics 104-92 to clinch series 4-2. The ViewFromVegas is they also covered as 3-point road favorites and the game stayed under 198.5 as both teams dribbled out last possessions. The Westgate SuperBook had the Hawks as -165 series favorites before the playoffs started.

Hawks 104, Celtics 92: A season in which Boston won 48 games and challenged for a top seed in the Eastern Conference ends with a Game 6 loss to the Hawks. A first-round playoff exit will sting, even if Boston was never long for the postseason. The future is bright, particularly if the pingpong balls bounce Boston's way on May 17. The team has its current core under control, but has the cap space for a bigger summer overhaul. It's now up to Danny Ainge and his staff to build a roster capable of competing for a bigger prize.

Celtics won't go quietly. Despite trailing by as much as 28, Boston rallied within 12 with 3:16 to play. As was often the case in this series, the team might have simply dug itself too big of a hole to claw itself out.

Kevin Pelton ESPN Staff Writer

Atlanta has been terrific and deserves to advance but I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the competitive series I think this would have been with a healthy Avery Bradley.

Ohm Youngmisuk ESPN Staff Writer

Just when Celtics look like they're making a dent into Hawks' lead, slicing a 22-point deficit to 14, Atlanta scores last seven points of third. Boston surrendered an alley-oop layup, Marcus Smart had a very bad turnover and Jared Sullinger was called for a bad offensive foul setting a screen in the backcourt on Dennis Schroder to help Atlanta take 80-59 lead into fourth.
