Clippers knock off cold-shooting Heat

Chris Paul and the Clippers got off to a slow start but warmed up as the game went along, with Paul scoring a game-high 22 plus 7 assists in a 100-93 win over the Heat. Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade each had 17 but combined to shoot 12-for-37 from the floor. Box score

Clippers pull away for 100-93 win over the Heat to get their 18th victory in their last 22 games, much of that stretch without Blake Griffin. Miami goes without a blocked shot for first time this season.

Remember when Chris Paul and Chris Bosh were struggling earlier this game? Yeah, neither do they.

If Gerald Green is going to miss dunks and 3s, Gerald Green probably needs to sit. That's what the Heat signed him for.

Something to potentially keep an eye on: Lance Stephenson is beginning to really annoy Chris Bosh. May end up waking a sleeping Bear, considering Bosh opened 1-of-12 from the field.

Lowest shooting quarter of the season for Miami, which went 4-for-20 in that third quarter. Clippers take 75-65 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Doc Rivers just looked over and tells us "Y'all going to miss the Super Bowl if they keep (intentionally) fouling."

Clippers take lead on Heat at halftime

After a cold-shooting first quarter, the Clippers came alive in the second, going 11-for-19 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from 3, capped by a J.J. Redick triple late to take a 46-45 lead. Live on ABC, WatchESPN

Chris Paul runs four straight pick-and-roll plays to isolate Hassan Whiteside and expose the fact he wouldn't dare step out to defend. Doc Rivers yells "Keep doing it until they stop it, damn it." Spoelstra responds by putting Bosh back in the game. Doc sees Bosh at scorers table and says they're getting a mobile big in the game. Bosh tells Doc, "I ain't a big any more. Though y'all knew that."

Whiteside follows through with authority

Heat center Hassan Whiteside knew what to do with this offensive rebound: slam it down with emphasis.

Doc Rivers, Sam Cassell and Mike Woodson might be the coolest coaching staff trio in the league. Y'all should have seen the way they collectively strutted into that timeout after the Clippers went on a reserve-led run to cut the deficit to 29-28.
