The Miami Heat and Chris Bosh haven't seen eye to eye regarding the approach to his medical condition. But this quote from coach Erik Spoelstra today says it all about how Bosh is locked in with his current role as pseudo assistant and bench hype man during games: "(Bosh) has the reputation that when he says something, guys listen. And it was just what we needed last night (entering OT against Toronto). It was a kick in the a--. It really was."

Decision eases tension between Bosh, Heat (1:32)

The Miami Heat issue statement moments ago announcing that Chris Bosh will not play in the playoffs, but that the sides will continue to work together to get him back on the court in the future. Bosh attended practice today in Toronto and watched film with coaches and Miami's younger players. Bosh has repeatedly declined to comment on his status. He has been sidelined with a medical condition since February. Bosh also missed the second half of last season to treat a blood clot that traveled to his lungs.

Takeaways from the Miami Heat's practice today in Toronto: 1. Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside received extensive treatment for sore knees on Wednesday but both expect to play in Game 2 Thursday. 2. In response to LeBron James' thoughts of facing Miami in the conference finals, Wade said he's got bigger issues to deal with right now north of the border against the Raptors. 3. Luol Deng makes a pretty mean cold cut sandwich, so much so that it's apparently helped turn Goran Dragic's game around in these playoffs.

The Cavs' LeBron James, who played with the Heat from 2010 to '14, said it would be "great" to play Dwyane Wade and his former team in the next round.

Dwyane Wade climbs playoff list

Wade moved up another notch on the NBA's career scoring list for playoff games with 24 points in the Heat's Game 1 win over the Raptors. It doesn't appear he'll remain where he is for long.
