San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Sean Marks is a candidate for the Nets' vacant GM job. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich expects Marks to shine when finally given the opportunity to run a team. "I think he's gonna be a star; really has a great feel for talent," Popovich said. "[He] has a great personality, really commands respect and gets along with people. So I think he's gonna be somebody that's gonna have a bright future. We're gonna [have to] kick him out of door here pretty soon. Is he leaving or something? Did he leave and I didn't know?"

See, no brace on Tim Duncan's right knee as he participates in pre-game warmups. He should be ready to go soon; likely after the All-Star break. But it wouldn't be a surprise if he plays a few minutes Wednesday at Orlando.

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich announced forward Tim Duncan will miss his eighth consecutive outing as he deals with a sore right knee. Listed as questionable on Monday, Duncan on Tuesday was downgraded. But the veteran participated in the team's shootaround at the AmericanAirlines Center. Popovich said he's not concerned with Duncan's conditioning, and expects the forward to be ready to go when fully healthy. "I don't worry about Tim," Popovich said. "Timmy's basically been a model of how to keep your body in shape and be ready to go. So he'll figure out what to do over the break. If he was a rookie, I'd worry. I'd give him all kinds of advice. But Timmy will be fine. He doesn't need us to even tell him anything."
