Spurs Dust Off An Old Winning Formula
From Elias: The Jazz had three starters score 16-or-more points; no Spurs starter scored more than 11 points; the Jazz had three starters collect 10-or-more rebounds; no Spurs starter had more than five rebounds. So what was the final score? San Antonio 87, Utah 81, as the Spurs completed a sweep of their first-round series. Manu Ginobili came off the bench to score a team-high 17 points; among the starters, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker led with 11 points apiece. The Spurs' victory was the first in the NBA's last 591 playoff games in which no starter on the winning team scored as many as 12 points. The last team to win a playoff game in that manner? Gregg Popovich's Spurs, of course. Back on April 30, 2005, the Spurs topped the Nuggets, 86-78, in Game Three of a first-round series in Denver, with Duncan leading the starters with-you guessed it-11 points, and Ginobili coming off the bench for a game-high 32.

Spurs survive furious rally to sweep away Jazz

20 pct equals sweep
The Jazz shot 20 percent from the 3-point line during their first round series against the Spurs. It was the third lowest 3-point percentage in a series during the last 15 postseasons, with each of the three shooting 20 percent or worse being swept out of the playoffs.

Parker Evokes His 2008 Self, But No Others Since Bird
From Elias: Tony Parker makes it look so easy. In Saturday's 102-90 victory for the Spurs over the Jazz in Salt Lake City, giving San Antonio a three-games-to-none lead in the series, Parker scored 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting and had six assists. Over the three games, he has 73 points and 23 assists while shooting 56.5 percent from the floor. Only one other time in the last quarter-century of NBA playoffs has a player accumulated as many points and as many assists and shot as well from the floor while leading his team to a three-games-to-none series lead - and that was Parker himself, in a first-round series against the Suns four years ago. (In that 2008 series, Parker had 99 points and 24 assists and shot 57.7 percent from the floor as the Spurs took a three-love lead in a series they would eventually win in five games.) The last player other than Parker to do it was Larry Bird against the Hawks in the first three games of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 1986.

Spurs Stifle Jazz
From Elias: The Jazz lost to the Spurs, 114-83, with Al Jefferson and Josh Howard each scoring a team-high 10 points for Utah. It was only the third NBA playoff game in the shot-clock era in which a team did not have a player score more than 10 points. That was previously done over that span by the Suns in 2000 (87-65 loss to the Lakers) and the Warriors in 1973 (126-70 loss to the Lakers).
