Dwyane Wade (flu) plays vs. Bobcats

MIAMI -- After being called a game-time decision, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade played Friday against the Charlotte Bobcats despite having the flu.

Wade came down with the illness Thursday, announcing on his Twitter account that it forced him to skip attending the Chicago Bears-Miami Dolphins game where he'd rented a suite. Wade skipped the Heat's shootaround Friday morning to get rest.

Earlier Friday, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said that Wade would go through pregame warm-ups and then team trainers would evaluate whether to clear him to play.

"He's feeling a little bit better, Dwyane wants to play," Spoelstra said. "We'll have to see how he feels and what his energy level is after he warms up."

The Heat are at the start of a back-to-back set of games including a Saturday night game in Memphis.
