Dwyane Wade (foot) day to day
Both he and the team still aren't completely certain what is causing him so much discomfort in his left foot.
The defending champs are trying to three-peat. The Heat Index.
Wade missed the Heat's practice Monday afternoon and is considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Golden State Warriors. He has missed three games with the injury, which occurred on Dec. 28. Lingering soreness forced Wade to shut it down last week.
Wade said for the first time that he could be dealing with plantar fasciitis, which can be a slow-healing injury. The Heat have been calling it a foot contusion.
"I don't know, it's just hurting," Wade said. "It could be three different things. It could be (plantar fasciitis), a bruise is one of them, maybe it's a combination of the two. I don't know. I just know it's in the area of plantar fascia. I know it's bruised as well. Whatever it is, it's just taking its course, taking its time to get healthy."
The Heat are 3-0 without Wade, and since it is early in the season and they are off to an 8-1 start, they are clearly in no rush to get him back.
However, for the time being it does seem like Wade is truly day to day.
"It's serious enough where our training staff feels I should continue to stay off it," Wade said. "I've been around the block a few times, so I've had a couple injuries in my nine years. So, I'm as smart as it gets when he comes to players who know when and when not to play."
Starting point guard Mario Chalmers did not practice either on Monday as he recovers from a bruised shoulder suffered Saturday in New Jersey. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he expected Chalmers to be able to play Tuesday night.
Mike Miller, who has yet to play this season while recovering from hernia surgery, did practice for the first time Monday. He will not play against the Warriors, but there is a chance he could return during the three games the Heat have on this current road trip.
Eddy Curry also took part in his first practice of the season. He has been out since the second day of training camp with a hip flexor. The team has not set a timetable for his return.
