Temple gets $5.5M to save crew
PHILADELPHIA -- Temple University will spare men's and women's crew from the chopping block after $5.5 million was pledged to restore a city boathouse.
Temple still plans to cut five other teams to address financial concerns and gender-fairness issues.
Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter says the city will spend $2.5 million and the Lenfest Foundation another $3 million to restore the Schuylkill River facility.
