MALIBU, Calif. -- The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team Sunday received an at-large bid to the four-team NCAA Championships.
Hawaii will join Pepperdine, Ball State and host Penn State in the tournament that starts Thursday in University, Pa.
The Warriors are seeded second and will play the third-seeded Nittany Lions.
Top-seeded Pepperdine received an automatic NCAA berth by beating Hawaii on Saturday in the championship match of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament. Pepperdine plays Ball State in the opener.
This will be Hawaii's third final four appearance under coach Mike Wilton, who is in his 10th season at Hawaii. The Warriors qualified for the tournament in 1995 and 1996, finishing second to UCLA in 1996. |
