BOX SCORE
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana State did it again. Michael Menser's 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds remaining gave the Sycamores a stunning 59-58 victory, their second straight over the Hoosiers, setting off a wild celebration at midcourt. Menser scored 14 points to lead Indiana State (3-1), which won its third straight game. The Hoosiers (2-3) lost their third straight. Indiana had rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to twice build five-point leads in the second half, but the Hoosiers simply didn't have enough firepower to put away Indiana State. The Hoosiers rallied behind their defense, which forced five turnovers on the first seven second-half possessions and held them scoreless for the first 6:23. That allowed Indiana to make a 13-0 run, giving the Hoosiers a 39-36 lead with 13:58 to go. But Indiana State tied the score 43 seconds later when Matt Renn's 3-pointer made it 39-39. Then the Hoosiers got a 3-pointer from Dane Fife, a 3-footer from Kirk Haston and a layup from Jared Jeffries to rebuild a 46-41 lead. But Indiana State answered with a 10-0 run during the next five minutes. But it certainly appeared bleak initially for the Sycamores. Already at a distinct size disadvantage, Indiana State lost two of its best inside players -- Djibril Kante and Brian Giesen -- in the first four minutes. Kante drew two fouls, while Giesen injured his right knee and did not return. Jeffries led the Hoosiers with 19 points. | ALSO SEE Mens College Basketball Scoreboard
