Creighton 81, Indiana St 72

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Terrell Taylor scored 20 points, 15 in the second half, as Creighton snapped a two-game losing streak by beating Indiana State 81-72 on Thursday.

Kyle Korver added 14 points and Ryan Sears scored 11 for the Bluejays (11-4, 3-2 Missouri Valley Conference).

Creighton got out of a three-game shooting slump and scored more than 70 for the first time since beating Evansville 87-57 on Dec. 30.

Ben Walker scored 10 for the Jays, who shot 46 percent (24-for-52) and were 9-for-16 on 3-pointers. In their previous three games, they had been 70-for-182 and 16-for-71 on 3-pointers.

Djibril Kante had 15 points and nine rebounds and Kelyn Block scored 13 points to lead the Sycamores (11-4, 3-1). Matt Renn and Michael Menser each scored 11 and Marcus Howard had 10 points for Indiana State, which nearly came back from a 17-point deficit.

After the Sycamores scored the first 10 points of the second half to cut Creighton's lead to 44-39, Taylor got the Jays back into it with a 3-pointer from the right wing with 17:28 left. Sears stole the inbounds pass and got it to Walker, who promptly hit another 3 to get the lead back into double digits.

Indiana State trailed by as much as 17 and didn't get closer than nine again until Howard's 3-pointer got the Sycamores within 75-67 with 1:21 left.

Creighton was able to hang on despite going 4-for-8 from the free throw line. Indiana State coach Royce Waltman was called for a technical foul with 4.2 seconds left and Creighton up 78-72.

Creighton overcame an 0-for-9 slump early in the first half to take a 44-29 halftime lead. Korver, Sears and Taylor had a 12-2 run _ all on 3-pointers _ as Creighton went up 17-10 with about 12 minutes left in the half.

The Jays continued to pull ahead and finished the half 15-for-32, going 6-for-10 from 3-point range, and forcing nine turnovers.

Indiana State attempted just 21 field goals, hitting nine, and was 10-for-16 from the free-throw line.
