CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) _ Kyle Hill scored 24 points Saturday night to lead Eastern Illinois past Eastern Kentucky 89-80.

Eastern Illinois' Panthers (18-9, 11-5 Ohio Valley) poured it on at the end, outscoring their opponents 23-12. They had built a 44-33 halftime lead before the Colonels (7-19, 1-15) used a 20-10 run in the first 6 1/2 minutes of the second half to go ahead 53-52.

For Eastern, Matt Britton had 14 points, Henry Domerant and Jesse Mackinson 13 each and Todd Bergmann added 12. The Panthers were 33-of-40 from the foul line.

Eastern Kentucky's Lavoris Jerry had a game-high 41 points going 16-of-27 from the field. while Spanky Parks added 17. The Colonels were 9-of-27 from 3-point range, with Jerry making 4-of-10.

With the win, Eastern Illinois hosts an OVC first round tournament game on Tuesday night.
