Richmond 77, George Mason 57

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Greg Stevenson scored 34 points Saturday and Richmond won the regular-season title in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 77-57 victory over George Mason.

The Spiders (20-6, 11-4), who have won nine of their last 10 games, broke to a 12-0 lead, with Patriots coach Jim Larranaga withholding center George Evans from the starting lineup. By the time Evans came in, the Patriots had missed their first nine shots and the Spiders had hit five of their first nine.

Richmond went ahead 23-7 before the Patriots came back. They drew to 25-24 with 4:27 remaining on a 3-pointer by Tremaine Price. The Spiders took a 35-29 halftime lead, with Stevenson scoring eight of his team's last 10 points of the half .

Stevenson scored 10 points during a 21-7 run by the Spiders to open the second half, giving Richmond a 57-40 lead with 10:08 remaining. The Patriots (6-11, 11-5) came no closer than 15 the rest of the way.

Eric Zwayer added 12 points for Richmond and Scott Ungerer had 10. For the Patriots, Evans scored 16 points and Jesse Young finished with 10.
