LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Kenny Satterfield scored 17 points and Leonard Stokes added 16 to lead Conference USA regular-season champion Cincinnati to a 73-70 win over UAB Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the league tournament at Freedom Hall.

Immanuel McElroy added 13 and conference player of the year Steve Logan had 12 points and five assists as Cincinnati (22-8) advanced to the tournament semifinals for the fifth time in six seasons.

P.J. Arnold scored 21 points and LeAndrew Bass added 15 to lead UAB (17-14), which lost to the Bearcats for the seventh straight time.

UAB trailed 39-38 at halftime but missed seven of its first 10 second-half shots. Satterfield's tip-in with 14:59 left started a 7-0 burst that gave Cincinnati a 53-46 lead.

The Bearcats led 58-50 when they went cold, going five minutes without a field goal. Arnold sank two 3-pointers during a 16-3 run that gave the Blazers a 66-61 lead.

Donald Little converted a three-point play with 5:43 left to pull the Bearcats to within two, but Bass hit a free throw a minute later for a 67-64 UAB lead.

Satterfield sank his third 3-pointer of the game with 2:38 left to tie the game and drove in for a layup with 1:28 remaining to give Cincinnati its first lead in seven minutes.

Will Campbell tied the game at 69-69 on a jumper in the lane with 1:02 left, but Satterfield hit another driving shot with 44 seconds left to put Cincinnati on top again. Bass sank a free throw with 29.3 seconds remaining to pull UAB to within one.

Field Williams made a free throw with 28.2 seconds left to restore the Bearcats' two-point lead.

Campbell was called for traveling with 8.2 seconds left, and Stokes sank a free throw after he was fouled on the ensuing inbounds play.

Bass missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Cincinnati improved to 9-3 in the tournament and won for the eighth time in its last nine games.
