RECAP | BOX SCORE

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Brian Heinle scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Cal State Northridge, playing a home game for the first time on national television this season, routed Weber State 91-74 in the semifinals of the Big Sky tournament on Friday.

The top-seeded Matadors (21-9), who are hosting the conference tournament for the first time, rattled sixth-seed Weber State (15-14) with a fast-paced transition game and a full-court swarming defense that forced 20 turnovers.

Northridge, already leading 53-32, opened the second half on a 19-7 run that saw Markus Carr _ the nation's assist leader _ deliver a no-look pass to a streaking Jeff Parris, who dunked it for a 33-point advantage. Carr finished with 11 assists.

Northridge, who upset then-No. 15 UCLA in November, will be playing in the tournament championship game against second-seed Eastern Washington (17-10) on Saturday. The winner will get the Big Sky's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Matadors and the Eagles, who finished two games behind Northridge in the conference standings, have never been a part of the tournament.

Heinle, the Big Sky's regular-season MVP, got things rolling for Northridge early. The 6-foot-9 senior center capped an 11-0 run with a 3-pointer, extending the Matador lead to 46-25 and giving him three of his 19 first-half points at the 4:01 mark.

Marco McCain finished with 16 points and Carl Holmes added 13 for Northridge, which has won 10 of its last 11.

Jermaine Boyette, playing on a sore groin and hip-flexor, led Weber State with a game-high 29 points. Chris Woods contributed 12.

Northridge has already played in two conference championship, losing each time, during coach Bobby Braswell's five-year tenure. The Matadors will leave the Big Sky at the end of the season and join the Big West Conference next year.
