Villanova coach Jay Wright said on the CBB podcast the most important thing to accomplish on the trip to Spain is for Darryl Reynolds, Josh Hart and Kris Jenkins to take over the leadership of the team. Wright said the ESPYs earlier in July was the last official event for the 2016 national champs. He said he met with the team and said everything going forward should focus on 2016-17. http://es.pn/2axiQgq

Villanova coach Jay Wright said on the CBB podcast when NC State postponed it's foreign trip to Italy, it forced the Wildcats to reexamine its trip to Spain. The Wildcats have been in touch with the FBI and the US Consulate in Spain and will have special security. But Wright said the school was told Barcelona and Madrid are as safe as being in New York City and LA. http://es.pn/2axiQgq

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey and Georgia coach Mark Fox both agreed with ESPN's Seth Greenberg on the CBB podcast that the NCAA should create a 10-day dead period in August. They said the coaches and recruits need to breathe a bit after a crazy July/year. http://es.pn/2axiQgq

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said on the CBB podcast he has talked to his good friend GW coach Mike Lonergan, who is under investigation for emotional and verbal abuse. "I grabbed him in Vegas and said how can I help you? He's a teacher and educator and intense guy too. He can't overreact. I said you can't get into a public contest of throwing barbs. But it's my alma mater and I'm disappointed in the administration that they could have handled this better. I'm close to the place and love the place. The guy has done a good job. He works his butt off and represents the place well. I just hope it works out and Mike continues to stay at GW. As an alum we're happy the way he's run the program." http://es.pn/2axiQgq

Notre Dame's Mike Brey said on the ESPNU CBB podcast that he and Duke's Mike Krzyzewski discussed when the ACC goes to 20 league games in 2019 that they should look to get the ACC-Big Ten Challenge as an exempt event so it doesn't count against non-conference scheduling. He said ACC schools will have to watch non-conference scheduling once it goes to 20 league games. http://es.pn/2axiQgq
