LSU 55, Rutgers 50

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Trailing for most of the game, Louisiana State outscored Rutgers 12-2 in the final 5 minutes to escape with a 55-50 victory on Saturday night, handing the Scarlet Knights their first home loss of the season.

There were three ties in the second half, the last at 38. Rutgers (4-4) then went on to take a 45-38 lead with 8:30 to play. The Scarlet Knights led 48-43 before the Tigers (5-3) finished strong.

LSU guard Andre Stringer led all scorers with 13 points.
