Game plan for Syracuse-Michigan
Our coaches break down key matchups, personnel for Orange, Wolverines
Ahead of Saturday's Final Four matchup between the Syracuse Orange and the Michigan Wolverines, we asked our coaches Fran Fraschilla and Seth Greenberg to come up with a game plan to defeat the other, with Fraschilla taking the Wolverines and Greenberg taking the Orange.
Syracuse's game plan versus MichiganBy Seth Greenberg
Key personnel for Michigan:
G: Trey Burke, 6-0, Soph.
The key player for the Wolverines in this one is Burke (there's a good case to be made that he's the key player for Michigan in every game) and how well he will play against the length of Syracuse. The Orange swallow up small guards, but Burke is not your typical small guard. Additionally, he has the benefit of having three good, athletic wings that can either shoot or drive and a good post player who is a threat on the glass, so you can't only focus on him.
I think the key player for defending Burke is Michael Carter-Williams, but it's important that MCW not get caught up in his individual matchup with Burke and instead remember that this is about Syracuse versus Michigan.
