We were in a matchup zone and they used a skip pass. Nobody was out there, so I had to run out and try to defend him. By the time I got there, I couldn't even get a hand up. He was already in the air.
I couldn't tell if it was going in, but the shot looked good. All I was thinking was I've got to either get a rebound or get the ball and throw it in real quick. That was my job -- any basket made, I was the guy throwing the ball in.
There was still plenty of time left, so we didn't think the game was over. I remember just thinking, "OK, get the ball inbounds and let's roll."
It didn't turn out that way.
I'm going to get together with Michael Jordan one day and have a long discussion. He needs to get the word out, that he did not shoot that jumper over me. Going on 30 years now I've been teased about that shot. People tell me I made Michael Jordan famous.
