41. Givens goes off

Jack Givens had already had an incredible season for the Kentucky Wildcats. He averaged more than 17 points per game and would be an All-American. But on March 27, 1978, in St. Louis, against Duke in the national championship game, Givens would make sure his season was remembered forever. The lefty stroked J after J, dropping 41 points on the Blue Devils and leading Kentucky to a 94-88 victory and the fifth national title in school history. Givens was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, and more than 30 years later, the blue corners of the commonwealth look back on '78 and smile.
