School president confident Donovan will stay at Florida

ST. LOUIS -- University of Florida president Bernie Machen
doesn't expect to lose coach Billy Donovan to Kentucky.

The Kentucky job opened up last week when Tubby Smith left for

Donovan is a former assistant at Kentucky under Rick Pitino.

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley and Machen have been working to get Donovan a new contract over the last year. Donovan delayed signing the deal believed to be worth about $2 million annually after Joakim Noah, Al Horford and Corey Brewer turned down NBA riches to return for their junior years.

Donovan has two years remaining on a contract that pays him $1.7 million a season. His next contract could be worth much more, especially if the Gators become the first team in 15 years to win consecutive national championships.
